India Breaking News reported Feature Runners Ahead of 2024 Paris Olympics Games, that ahead of the 2024 Olympics, the organizers of the Paris Olympics have revealed plans for a torch relay involving 10,000 runners who will carry the Olympic flame through approximately 60 French provinces.

Paris Olympics before the 2024 Olympics

The torch, ignited in a traditional ceremony in Olympia, Greece, will make its way to Marseille via sea on May 8 before commencing its journey across France. The relay will culminate at the Olympic opening ceremony in Paris on July 26, with discussions ongoing about the potential lighting location of the Olympic flame, including considerations of the Eiffel Tower.

An innovative addition to this year’s relay is the “mass relay” concept, where groups of up to 24 individuals, one of whom carries the torch, will participate. A total of 7,000 individual torchbearers and 3,000 collective torchbearers, comprising equal representation of men and women aged 15 and above, will partake in the relay. Each torchbearer will cover approximately 200 meters over a span of about 4 minutes.

The selection of torchbearers will involve contributions from various sources, with one-third each from sponsors Coca-Cola and French bank BPCE, other Olympic partners, organizing committees and sports authorities, and the hosting regions. Notably, election officials and religious leaders are prohibited from participating in carrying the sacred flame.

While some French provinces have opted out due to perceived high costs, rigorous security measures will be implemented throughout the relay, with French gendarmes, police, and municipal security forces ensuring safety. Additionally, a separate Paralympic torch relay involving 1,000 torchbearers will precede the Paralympic Games.

10000 runners will participate

The Paris 2024 opening ceremony, slated to be held along the Seine River, is anticipated to draw large crowds, with an estimated 600,000 spectators expected to line the route. A purpose-built stadium in the Trocadéro Park will serve as the central venue for the ceremony, promising to be the most “spectacular and inclusive” in Olympic history, according to organizers.

Amidst security concerns, organizers remain vigilant against potential threats, particularly from terrorist elements, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring the safety and success of the event. As Paris commemorates the centenary of its first hosting of the Games in 1924, the 2024 Olympics are poised to be a momentous occasion celebrating sport and international unity.
