India Breaking News reported Nancy Pei Named Next Chair of Hong Kong Football Association, Fok Zhenting who has held the position for over two decades. Pei Kunji is expected to take over as chairman after the upcoming election on June 27, as Fok Zhenting has decided not to seek re-election. The decision marks the end of Fok Zhenting’s third term, following his succession from his father, Fok Yingdong, before the handover in 1997.

The association’s constitution was revised to limit each president’s term to four years, leading to major changes in the board of directors. Pei Kunji’s succession will see Fok Kai-shan, the vice-chairman and son of Fok Zhenting, taking over his position. This move aims to avoid any conflicts of interest that might arise from having both the father and son in top leadership positions within the association.

Additionally, current directors Zheng Mingyu and Chen Zhikang will not seek re-election. However, one of the vice-chairmen, Huang Liangbai, will continue to serve. The new board will also include former Home Affairs Secretary Tsui Ying-wei, who left the government in early 2022 amidst a scandal over neglecting social distancing measures during the epidemic. Tsui Ying-wei is expected to take over as vice chairman, bringing his executive experience and potentially strengthening the association’s relationships with various departments, crucial for implementing strategic plans such as the Phoenix Plan (now Vision 2025) to revitalize Hong Kong football.
