India Breaking News reported Taitung Represents Taiwan in Asia-Pacific Baseball League, that the Taitung Elementary School baseball team has secured Taiwan’s representation in the Asia-Pacific PONY Baseball Broncos League. This achievement follows their victory in the TOTO Little League Championship. The Taitung County Government made the announcement, stating that the team, comprised of students from Beinan Elementary School in Taitung City, clinched their spot by defeating the Taichung team with a score of 16-5 in the Tainan competition. This win earned them the Brown Cup and a chance to compete in Manila, Philippines in early June for the Section-11 Asia-Pacific Championship.

Asia-Pacific PONY Baseball Broncos League

In addition to Beinan Elementary School, the Taitung team includes students from Toyota Elementary School, Xinsheng Elementary School, Hongye Elementary School, and Taoyuan Elementary School. The Bronco League, organized by the PONY Baseball and Softball Organization of America, caters to players aged 11-12, with PONY standing for “Protecting Our Nation’s Youth.

Taitung County Governor Rao Qingling pledged support from the local government to fund the team’s travel and training expenses. He also encouraged the players to aim for victory in the PONY Baseball’s Asia-Pacific Bronco League, which could potentially lead them to the U.S. World Series.

The journey to secure representation in the World Series wasn’t without its challenges. In a crucial match against the Taichung team, the Taitung team emerged victorious with a score of 6-4, securing their seed in the tournament. Despite a strong start from the Dodgers, the Cougar team managed to level the score and eventually secure a 6-4 win, with standout performances from players like Cruz Jr. and Bamba.

Looking ahead, the Bronco playoffs are set to commence, with the Dodgers facing off against the Cougar team. The winner of this match will go on to challenge the top-seeded Tigers in the championship game.

In a separate development, the Taipei City Fulin Elementary School baseball team clinched victory over South Korea in the regional finals, earning the right to represent the Asia-Pacific region in this year’s Little League Baseball World Series. Led by starting pitcher Liao Guanshu, the Taiwan team secured a 1-0 win, showcasing their prowess on the field.

Despite facing setbacks in earlier matches, Taiwan regained its momentum, securing victories against New Zealand, Guam, and the Philippines. Liao Guanshu’s stellar performance, including two crucial home runs, played a pivotal role in these victories.

The Little League Baseball World Series, held annually in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, is a prestigious tournament for children aged 10 to 12. Taiwan has a rich history in the tournament, having won 17 World Series titles between 1969 and 1996. However, the country hasn’t represented the Asia-Pacific region in the series since 2015.
